3. Medications/Medical Conditions. Though lesson common, certain medications prescribed for acne, high-cholesterol, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, and thyroid conditions can cause hair loss by altering the normal cycle of scalp hair growth. Antidepressants, birth control pills, steroids, and medications for weight loss can also cause a man to lose his hair. Conditions such as anemia, protein deficiency, and thyroid disease can contribute to hair loss in men as well.
4. Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy agents given to cancer patients can poison growing hair follicles, causing permanent hair loss.
