In Atlanta, the summer is H.O.T. We are far enough inland that we don’t get that coastal breeze, and far enough south that the temperatures soar. Figuring out what to do with your hair can be a challenge. It’s easy enough to crop your son’s hair very close or give your young daughter a pixie cut, but what about you? Not everyone feels confident enough to rock a super short cut, and if you’ve been growing your hair out, you don’t want to lose the length. So, what can you do to stay cool and keep your hair healthy?
Loosen Up!
Be wary of taut styles like high, tight pony-tails and tightly plaited braids. The tension can pull your hair and cause thinning, especially at the front and crown. Looser braids, like french braids or twists can allow for ease at the scalp.
Spin It Up!
Traditional straight bobby pins can also create a lot of tension on your hair. They also can give you a terrible headache! When wearing your hair up, try twisting braids together for longer hair, or a simple bun for shorter locks. Secure your updo with corkscrew pins that spin into your hair, spreading the hold over more area to keep it from pulling too much!
At Kalos Hair Restoration, we wish you a safe, happy summer with lots of healthy, good hair days. If you find that your hair is beginning to thin no matter how you style it, you may need restorative treatment. Dr. Benjamin Stong has options to help; schedule your appointment today!
