Is Transplant My Only Option?

If you’re a man just beginning to lose your hair, or you’ve just recently noticed thinning, you may not need a full-blown transplant procedure to get back to the look you want.

There are other options available that can help you to stimulate new hair growth and get you back to feeling your best.

Currently, the FDA has given its stamp of approval for two effective hair restoration medications:

  • Rogaine, a topical medication
  • Propecia, an oral medication

Rogaine was the first drug approved to treat male pattern baldness. When applied directly to the scalp, it helps to slow the progression of hair loss, as well as regrow hair to a small degree.

Propecia was the first pill developed for hair loss for men, and is considered the more effective hair loss medication of the two. It works by inhibiting enzymes that convert testosterone into DHT – the culprit responsible for shrinking hair follicles.

Low-level laser therapy, or LLLT is another non-transplant option. In this FDA-approved procedure, laser light stimulates hair growth by targeting hair follicles on the shaft to help urge the production of thicker strands.

Kalos Hair Transplant is pleased to offer each of these alternative treatments in our office. And as always, we’re here to answer your questions and help get you the lasting, natural-looking results you want. Give us a call today to schedule your consultation.
