When a Hair Transplant Goes Wrong

The days of “plugs” and chia pet looking hair transplants are gone. Skilled, artistic surgeons like Dr. Ben Stong are able to create new hairlines that look and feel natural.

Technology like NeoGraft allow for precision in extracting follicles for transplant and placing them in the correct spot. But not all plastic surgeons and hair transplant facilities are equal.

If you’ve been the recipient of a bad transplant, Dr. Stong may be able to help you.

Correcting the Hairline

One of the most common mistakes made is in creating the new hairline. Patients may find the doctor or technician placing the transplant to grow in the wrong direction or planting the hairline too low or too high. In some cases, the grafts may be able to be removed or thinned and replaced with a more natural placement.

What About the Scar?

Unfortunately, if you have scarring from a hair transplant, there is little that can be done to correct the issue. It is very important to vet your transplant doctor thoroughly before agreeing to the procedure. Look for a surgeon who performs his own transplants, as opposed to allowing a tech to handle it. Check out his before and after photos, and ask to see the back of the hair, if possible. A trained, experienced doctor will be expecting this request and willing to show you.
